Braithwaite Park

Braithwaite Park
Abbot Road, E14
Braithwaite Park was created when Braithwaite House, an old tower block, was demolished a few years ago and, until this project started, was a plain flat triangle of grass. Trees for Cities is working in partnership with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to transform the space into a vital local park.
In year one, Trees for Cities planted new trees and created large new mixed shrub and perennial borders around the perimeter of the park. In year two, Trees for Cities delivered a comprehensive community consultation programme incorporating further landscaped areas and a new natural play area.
This year, following the installation of the natural play area by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Trees for Cities will be getting those plants and trees in the ground with the help of local schools and residents and adding bulbs to the grass areas to bring spring interest.
Volunteers can get involved in planting the new trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs in this planting season. Contact TfC's volunteer coordinator if you would like to take part.
Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver projects like the Braithwaite Park Project. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation or buying a community gift.
This project is supported by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the London Tree and Woodland Grant Scheme, Bloomberg, the Tower Hamlets Events Fund, the City Bridge Trust and Esmee Fairbairn.
