Mayor of London Street Trees - Tower Hamlets

The Mayor of London’s street tree programme has identified priority areas across all London Boroughs desperately in need of street trees. A street tree can transform a local landscape adding colour and texture throughout the year, providing new habitats for wildlife and improving the general street environment for all by providing shelter and shade.

Trees for Cities is working in partnership with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for a second year to engage local residents, schools and businesses in discussion about street trees through door knocking, mail drops and group workshops where participants are given the opportunity to discuss likes and dislikes, aspirations and concerns in order to find the best solutions and to build consensus within the community.

Trees for Cities will be undertaking the planting of over 175 new street trees in the Stepney and Bow areas. Residents and local stakeholders will be encouraged to get involved in the care and maintenance of the new trees with our Love Trees Hotline.

This project is supported by the London Tree and Woodland Grant Scheme Mayor’s Street Tree programme and Trees for Cities Trees for Streets Campaign.

Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver projects like the Mayor of London Street Trees: Tower Hamlets. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation or buying a community gift.
