Morden Park Woodland
Morden Park Woodland Project
Following on from the success of the three year Capital Woodlands Project at this site, Trees for Cities is continuing to work with the London Borough of Merton, the Morden Playing Fields Association and Merton Tree Wardens this year.
Activities started in early summer as Trees for Cities worked with the project partners and the local community to reflect on the outcomes of Capital Woodlands through a range of focus groups and to celebrate the Project’s achievements with an extremely popular woodland family picnic in May. Over 450 people took part in an exciting mix of woodland activities and workshops including woodland walks, story telling, forest survival skills and natural crafts.
In late November members of the local community, Trees for Cities volunteers and the Merton Tree Wardens came together to plant 700 native whips to extend the woodland edge along the western boundary.
This project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the London Borough of Merton, the London Tree and Woodland Grant Scheme, SITA enhancing communities and CSV Action Earth.
Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver projects like the Morden Park Woodland Project. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation or buying a community gift.
