Trees for Cities’ work in Leeds got underway in February 2006. We launched our partnership with Leeds City Council, by planting several hundred trees and hedgerow on routes approaching Bramham Park.

Since then we have planted over 19,000 trees across Leeds to create new woodland plots and enhance existing tree coverage in parks, community green spaces and urban woodland. New plantings are currently underway for the 2009/10 planting season.

Festival Republic, organisers of the Leeds Festival, have kindly supported our work in the city and Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic and Patron of Trees for Cities, says: “I am delighted with the progress of Trees for Cities in Leeds. You can already see it starting to have a big impact on the city."
