New Trees for Bishop Cuthbert
Trees for Cities is working with Hartlepool Borough Council to plant new trees in Bishop Cuthbert Green Space.
This page contains two forms - a community consultation survey and sign-up form for upcoming planting days. Scroll down to fill in both.
Have your say
We are now running a community consultation to seek community feedback before plans are finalised. We would like to identify resident priorities and preferences around the species selection of the plants, wildlife habitat creation, and other greening features planned for these areas.
Please see our proposed planting design below and complete our survey.

Come and plant a tree with us!
We are pleased to be holding two Community Tree Planting days at Bishop Cuthbert on Saturday 17th January 2026 and Saturday 31st January 2026.
Complete the form below to sign up to plant a tree in your local green space.
Our community planting day is free and open to everyone and is suitable for families. We will provide all the tools and equipment you will need as well as free lunch and refreshments.
Accessibility is very important to us, and we are working to make sure our events can welcome everyone. If you have any specific needs or questions around accessibility at this event, please contact leah.johnstone@treesforcities.org.
Why we're planting
Trees for Cities will be planting trees to introduce new species, provide more seasonal colour, improve biodiversity and increase climate resilience. We have prepared plans which you can view below.
Hartlepool currently has one of the lowest Local Authority Tree Equity scores in the country. Through the Tree Equity for Hartlepool project, we're working to tackle Hartlepool's low tree canopy cover and begin a journey towards a more healthy, sustainable and equitable urban forest for Hartlepool.
We hope these trees will be a welcome improvement to the space and provide lasting benefits to the environment and the local community. We hope you can join us in shaping the design and planting the trees in winter.
