New Trees on Glamis Estate
Trees for Cities is pleased to be working with Eastend Homes to deliver a new urban greening project on Glamis Estate. The new greenery will add colour and interest and create useable, enjoyable spaces for residents.
Community Tree Planting Day
Trees for Cities is hosted a free community planting day on Saturday, 22nd March 2025.
The Glamis Estate community came together to plant 7 beautiful new trees
Why are we making greening improvements here?
Residents on the Glamis Estate Management Board opted to allocate the Environmental Improvement Budget to greening the estate. Trees for Cities has previously worked with East End Homes to plant trees around the estate.
This project aims to introduce new trees and vegetation to Glamis Estate, and to work with residents to make improvements across its green spaces. This is with the aim of increasing canopy cover to bring benefits such as improving amenity value, combatting urban heat island effects, slowing the flow of rainwater, and adding to the biodiversity of the area.
Trees of Cities are engaging with estate residents to design greening interventions, and to involve them in the delivery of those interventions. The project also aims to consult on the depaving of the area at Elf Green Garden, with the potential to deliver this in the 2025/26 planting season.
How is this project being funded?
Part of the funding for this project is coming from the Glamis Estate Management Fund and residents voted to use this money for greening the estate. This will be used in addition to fundraising done by Trees for Cities which will contribute significantly to the cost of this project.
Donate to Trees for Cities and together we can help cities grow into greener, cleaner and healthier places for people to live and work worldwide.
