Trees deserve to be celebrated. In cities, trees offer huge benefits for our health and immediate living environment. They have the power to cool our streets during heatwaves. They can absorb airborne pollutants and store carbon. Not only that, spending time in nature amongst urban trees can benefit a person’s physical and mental wellbeing.
Why trees matter
For National Tree Week between 23rd November to 1st December, it’s only right that we give urban trees the limelight. We asked our volunteers and staff: why are trees important?

Attend a planting day
Get stuck in at one of our community planting days and learn how to plant trees. We'll be hosting an extra special planting event at Ashburton Playing Fields, celebrating our 30th anniversary.
Big Give Christmas Challenge
This year’s match funded campaign will be our largest to date, with an ambitious target of £100,000! From 3rd – 10th December all donations will be doubled at no extra cost to you. That’s one donation, double the trees.
A Tree-filled week
We're fully in planting season, with trees going in the ground across the country. In Bradford as part of our Trees for Climate Action programme, we will be delivering Wandering Woodlands - a selection of saplings that will be nurtured by communities until we plant them. In Croydon and Hillingdon, our corporate volunteers are getting stuck in with planting whips, creating the beginnings of new woodlands.
We'll be hosting several school workshops throughout the week, including whip planting workshops with local school children at Ashburton Playing Fields. At Millbank Gardens Primary Academy in London, our build team will be establishing a new Healthy Playground for the 400+ students to enjoy.
