New Trees in Blantyre

Trees for Cities are to be working with the Clyde Climate Forest and South Lanarkshire Council to plant new trees in Blantyre.

We have an initial design we would invite comment on. Please read through the information below and fill out the survey at the bottom of the page to let us know your thoughts.

Below is the maps showing potential sites for tree planting.

Adding new trees to an area can enhance it in several ways. Dense planting is good for wildlife and can help to mitigate flooding or create a screen against a busy road. While planting larger trees further apart will have more of a visual impact on a space and could be used to create an avenue, an orchard or a space to relax.

The planting will take place in March so there is plenty of time to finalise a design for the space. We are hoping to involve local people and community groups in planting as much as possible so please let us know if you would like to come and plant a tree with us.

Feedback form

Please leave any feedback you might have about the new trees using the form below. This form will close on Monday 19th February 2024 to allow our team time to create a design from the feedback left. When filling out the form, please make reference to the site (Map 1/Area1 etc).
