Tree Planting at Oldfield Rec

Event full, sign-ups are now closed

We have had a great response from the local community and lots have people have signed up to plant trees with us at Oldfield Rec this weekend. To ensure we are able to run the event safely and that everyone gets a chance to have a go at planting a tree we have closed. Its great to see so many people being so supportive of tree planting.

Our next events are at Stoneham Park in Bexley and West End Road in Hillingdon, click on the links to register for these events.

Trees for Cities and the Ealing Council are working together to plant up to 34 trees and 500 whips (tree saplings) at Oldfield Recreation Ground.

The tree species have been specially selected and located to provide additional shade along the pathways and around the dog park, and to add to visual amenity and species richness of the park.

THANKS FOR YOUR FEEDBACK

Thank you to everyone who offered us valuable feedback on the design proposal for tree planting at Oldfield Rec.

We've listened to the community and have made some changes to our tree-planting design and species selection.

WHY ARE WE PLANTING MORE TREES?

This project will add to the canopy cover of the Ealing Council and contribute to the Council’s aim to increase canopy cover to 25% by 2030, as set out in the council’s Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy and Biodiversity Action Plan.

Planting new trees at Oldfield Recreation Ground will also contribute more broadly to the London Environment Strategy aim to increase tree canopy cover across London by 10% by 2050.

The trees planted at Oldfield Recreation Ground will count towards Ealing Council’s shorter-term aim to plant 50,000 trees by 2026.
