Strategic Partnerships

Trees for Cities is delighted to announce our second strategic partnership with a local authority: Redbridge Council.

Similar to our partnership with Ealing Council, this partnership is for a three year period, which means that Trees for Cities can take a strategic approach towards tree planting and creating high quality green spaces in the borough. Delivering a variety of projects including urban woodlands, street trees, edible playgrounds and community orchards, ensures that our projects will have a sustained impact on the local environment and have lasting benefits to the people who live and work in Redbridge.

Help us plant a million urban trees by 2020

To date we have planted over 600,000 trees in cities.  We have now set ourselves an ambitious new target to strive to plant 1 million urban trees by 2020.  Help us meet this exciting new milestone…

The Redbridge programme (2017-2020) will include:

  • Mapping to identify potential tree planting sites in Redbridge and issues such as air quality hotspots and high flood risk areas which tree planting could help to address;
  • Focused community consultation to understand what Redbridge residents want from their green infrastructure;
  • Delivery of six community tree planting and community greening projects such as edible urban woodlands, community orchards, community food growing initiatives and tree trails;
  • Maintenance of existing woodlands and open space.

The Ealing programme (2016-2019) will include:

  • Mapping to identify potential tree planting sites in Ealing and issues such as socio-economic deprivation which tree planting could help to address;
  • London’s first borough-wide i-Tree Eco survey to discover the monetary value of the ecosystem services that Ealing’s trees provide (for example through flood prevention and improving air quality);
  • Community consultation to understand attitudes to urban trees and what Ealing residents want from their green infrastructure;
  • Delivery of six community tree planting and community greening projects such as edible urban woodlands, community orchards and tree trails;

If you are an Ealing or Redbridge resident and have some ideas for tree planting in your borough, we would love to hear from you! Please contact info@treesforcities.org.
